The Nursery Experience Closes; Property For Rent

The business was located at 6202 N. Central Avenue at Hanna Avenue in Seminole Heights.

Late last year, the house on the corner of Hanna and Central avenues morphed into a business that sold handmade products geared toward children. Blankets, gift box sets and onesies were on hand for customers of The Nursery Experience at a charming house with lattice work and hardwood floors in Seminole Heights. Now, The Nursery Experience is closing its doors. Citing personal reasons, owners Amy and Juan Camacho said they plan to rent the home to another business, which has yet to be named. Meanwhile, Amy Camacho said she plans to sell her items on www.etsy.com and at local art shows in Tampa Bay. For information on how to contact Amy and Juan Camacho, click here. The Nursery Experience Offers Hand-Crafted, Locally Made Items

The business recently opened in Seminole Heights.

Not long ago, the house at the corner of Hanna and Central avenues was an eyesore. But Amy and Juan Camacho saw potential, working with county officials to rezone the single family home to open The Nursery Experience on Nov. 24, Small Business Saturday. Now, hardwood floors, lattice work on the patio and potted plants welcome patrons to one of Seminole Heights's newest businesses at 6202 N. Central Avenue, which offers hand-crafted baby items that range from bibs to wall art. "Juan is good at home renovation projects, so we basically quit our day jobs," said Amy Camacho of how the business came about. "I was working for an advertising company, and Juan worked for Bank of America. We went back to serving tables at Jackson's to save up money…

Baby Boutique's Grand Opening Postponed

The business was scheduled to open in Old Seminole Heights on Saturday, June 2.

The Nursery Experience’s grand opening has been postponed. The new baby boutique was slated to open its doors at 6202 N. Central Ave. on Saturday, June 2, but the wait on some final permits put off the official launch by a week or two, according to co-owner Amy Jensen. “We are all squared away with City Council and will open as soon as possible,” Jensen said. Jensen together with business partner and fiancé Juan Camacho have worked since last October to transform the small 1941 house on Central Avenue into a retail shop. Challenges included petitioning the city to rezone the house into commercial use and fixing up the property. “It was a huge project,” Jensen said, “the place was in a rough shape but I am now very happy with the outcome.” …

We look forward to everyone stopping by to see this property that we have worked so hard on. We are taking each project one step at a time (yes there are plans for a new fence!) and we are very proud of our progress. The garden is one of our final ventures and there is more to come, so please stay tuned. Thanks again for the support and we look forward to being a part of this wonderful community!   more ›
