9/11 Historical Project to Visit Tampa

There are three opportunities to see the project.

This just in: Come join Tampa Fire Rescue in remembering our fallen heroes from Sept. 11, while viewing history first hand. The Project involving former FDNY Rescue 4 and Rescue 5 is an educational effort focused at society, especially youngsters who were too young to actually understand the events of September 11 and what that day means to members of the fire service. The Remembrance Rescue Project is a not-for-profit created by firefighters to restore and preserve Rescue 4 and Rescue 5 from 9/11 as educational tools, historical artifacts and memorials. Meals on Wheels Looking for Volunteers

Find out how to help out.

Meals on Wheels, a nonprofit organization that helps feed home-bound people and senior citizens, is looking for volunteers. Volunteers pick up the hot meals between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. The delivery of the whole route takes about an hour, with approximately 12 stops, said Andrea Brogen of MOW. Volunteers can choose which day of week - Monday through Friday - and how often (from once a week to once a month), said Brogen. Volunteers can pick up food to deliver at one of two locations near Seminole Heights: The main office and kitchen at 550 W Hillsborough Avenue, and Northeast United Methodist Church at 6400 N 15th Street. Hanukkah 2012 in Seminole Heights

This year, Hanukkah begins on the evening of Saturday, Dec. 8, and ends a week later on Sunday, Dec. 16. Relay for Life Planning Meetings, Kick-Off Party

In April, cancer survivors will gather at Hillsborough High to raise money for the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life in Seminole Heights. In the meantime, planning meetings and a kick-off party are being organized to drum up support for the event. Registration Open for Buddy Baseball

The recreation league is for kids with special needs in Tampa Bay.

Buddy Baseball is a non-competitive recreational league for boys and girls with special needs in the Tampa Bay area.  A buddy is paired with each player, and the league fosters friendships and breaks down barriers. Buddy Baseball is an opportunity like no other for children with special needs. MOSI Hosting Festival of Chocolate in January

It's the third annual celebration.

MOSI will host Tampa’s third annual Festival of Chocolate from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Jan. 19 and 20, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Jan. 21. The Festival of Chocolate is Florida’s largest all-chocolate tasting, shopping and interactive experience. The Festival of Chocolate will showcase a variety of the area's best chocolate and confection companies, selling tastes and treats of everything chocolate from truffles, cakes and cupcakes to cookies, brownies and ice creams. Museum of Science and Industry Featuring 'Cirque Italia'
