Publix Coupons Enter the Digital Age

The new tool will enable Seminole Heights-area customers to present digital coupons at the checkout.

Seminole Heights-area bargain hunters will soon have a new way to save in the Publix checkout line. The grocery retailer is poised to roll out its new digital coupons at stores throughout Central Florida over the next few weeks, according to The Tampa Tribune. The digital coupon program enables Publix shoppers to skip cutting out coupons to bring into the store. Instead, all they have to do is sign up for a free account, select their coupons online and then give the telephone number associated with their account in the checkout line. The coupons that match the purchases made will automatically be applied toward the bill, according to the Publix website. While the digital coupons will save customers from printing online coupons and might …

Seminole Heights Publix Stores Recall Cake Products

The recall affects 45 different products. There is a concern these items may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

Publix customers in the Seminole Heights area may want to check the ID numbers on any cake products they purchased from the bakery. The grocery chain has issued a recall on 45 different products distributed between Nov. 11 and Nov. 15 by Maplehurst, a private bakery supplier. According to a media release, there is a concern about a potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination. This bacteria causes an illness that can be serious and even fatal in young children, elderly people and those with compromised immune systems. “While the product is no longer available on store shelves, we have issued a voluntary recall because of our commitment to food safety and to advise our customers who may still have this product at home,” said Maria Brous, …

Seminole Heights Protester Calls out 'Lunatic Fringe' at RNC

Chuck Kaelin and his college buddies said they don't like where the Republican Party has headed since the days of Ronald Reagan.

Chuck Kaelin of Seminole Heights took the day off Wednesday from his job as a manager at Publix. He just had to come to downtown Tampa, site of the Republican National Convention, to share his opposition to the GOP's platform. "When's the RNC going to come back to Tampa again?" he said. Kaelin was holding his homemade sign, which read, "Pardon Me, G.O.P. — Your Lunatic Fringe is Showing," on a streetcorner a few blocks from the Tampa Bay Times Forum. Joining him were two of his old college buddies from the University of Florida, Phil Atley of Port St. Lucie and Wallace Armes of Naples. "We were Republicans back then," said Armes, who once campaigned for Ronald Reagan. The Republican Party has gone "downhill ever since," according to his …

Publix, Sweetbay Experiencing Problems With Debit Cards

A representative from Publix says that shoppers can use cash or credit cards.

If you're headed to a Publix Supermarket or other retailer this evening, you should make sure you have a credit card or cash in your wallet to pay for your merchandise.  "We apologize for the inconvenience our customers are experiencing with the pin pad machines not accepting debit, EBT and gift cards. We are experiencing technical difficulties with that system," said Publix spokesperson Shannon Patten in an email. Patten suggests that customers check with each store before shopping by visiting the Publix store locator section of their website.  "Publix stores do accept credit cards and checks with proper identification or cash for their transaction," she said. A spokesperson for Sweetbay Supermarkets confirmed that their machines were …

Publix Begins Remodel

Over the next 10 weeks, new displays and aisle changes are coming to the Seminole Heights Publix on Nebraska Avenue.

Hey all, your Publix Store Manager Chuck Kaelin here.   I wanted to give you a quick update on the remodel of your store which begins tonight. Over the next 10 weeks you will see some changes in the perimeter area of the store that I think you are going to like. Unfortunately, the store will not get any larger and we will not gain any parking, but there are things happening which will make your shopping trips easier and more enjoyable. Some of the key changes will be the addition of an Apron's cooking station at the rear of the store. The back aisles which are currently perpendicular to the main aisle will be turning to the same direction as the rest of the aisles. We will have all new display pieces for the bakery and produce departments…
