Seminole Heights students who weren’t quite ready to hit the books after the long winter vacation are getting the reprieve they wanted. All Hillsborough County public schools are closed Monday, Jan. 21 in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. The schools join a host of other government agencies shuttering their doors in recognition of the slain civil rights leader. Public schools are also closed Tuesday, Jan. 22 for students only. Teachers need to report to work. Hillsborough schools closed out their second grading period and first semester on Friday, Jan. 19. Monday, Jan. 16 is Martin Luther King Jr. Day, a federal holiday. Here's a look at what's open and what's closed in Central Tampa and around Hillsborough County in observance of the holiday: The majority of Hillsborough County offices and facilities will be closed on Monday. Closed facilities include the administrative offices of county government, neighborhood service centers, all libraries, all county-operated Head Start/Early Head Start Centers, recreation centers, senior centers and nutrition sites.
