Ever thought about being a foster parent to a pet? Learn about the process at a library near you.
Often when you think about pet adoption, images of heading to the Hillsborough County Animal Services shelter and picking out the perfect pet come to mind. But there's a group of people who you may not think about who contribute a valuable resource to county pet adoption - pet foster families. "Having a foster family is helpful on so many different levels," said Marti Ryan, spokeswoman for Hillsborough County Animal Services. "The animal has a place to calm down and get care. The shelter becomes very instrumental in getting the dog or cat placed. They begin to know dogs habits, strengths and weaknesses or behavior issues." From Hillsborough County Government Online: The Hillsborough County Public Library Cooperative is celebrating Hispanic Heritage with three popular annual contests. Through Sept. 30: students in kindergarten – 5th grades may enter the Our Hispanic Heritage Bookmark Contest; students in grades 6-12 may enter the Our Hispanic Heritage Poster Contest; and adults age 18 and older may enter the Our Hispanic Heritage Poetry Contest.
