Payday Coming for Seminole Heights Gun Swappers

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is setting up shop Saturday, Feb. 9 to finalize its purchase of guns during last weekend’s Operation Gun Swap buyback.

Payday is almost here for Seminole Heights residents who brought their guns to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office’s Operation Gun Swap last Saturday, Feb. 2. Deputies plan to return to the five collection locations in the county Feb. 9 and Feb. 10 to give those who received vouchers $75 per gun in trade for their troubles. All told, the one-day operation resulted in 2,808 firearms collected, according to the sheriff’s office’s website. Two unarmed rocket launchers were also turned in. At $75 a pop, that amounts to a payout of $210,600. It’s unclear if the sheriff’s office is paying for the rocket launchers. Gun Swap Set for Saturday; Rewards Include Cash, Game Tickets

Seminole Heights residents can trade their old, unwanted firearms for tickets to sporting events and cash from the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

Have an unwanted gun collecting dust in your Seminole Heights home you’d like to get rid of? Hillsborough County Sheriff David Gee has an offer he’s hoping you won’t refuse. Just bring that firearm down to one of five drop off locations on Saturday, Feb. 2, and the sheriff’s office will give you a two-pack of tickets to a Tampa Bay Lightning game and two tickets to a Tampa Bay Rays game. Plus, you’ll also get $75 per firearm for your troubles. “I think it’s a fantastic package,” said Capt. Chad Chronister, who is helping head up the gun swap this Saturday.
