Looking for Father's Day gift ideas? Well, here's a new one: How about giving dad some Internet fame?
You know he's the world's greatest, but until now spreading the word has been limited to how many people might see a coffee mug or a barbecue apron. But this is the 21st century. Imagine his surprise on Father's Day morning — which is Sunday, June 17, by the way — when you hand him a laptop, smartphone or tablet and show him the glowing article you've written about him on Patch. It's fun, free and easy to do, just follow these instructions and you'll be ready to start in no time. You can even add photos and videos. Just remember that if dad's a Patch reader, too, you may want to wait until the night before to upload your testimony to his greatness. And once your blog is set up, you can use it to write about anything that floats your boat…

All year long, dads do what they're "supposed" to do.
Pen Name Jane said this last year, but we had to say it again. Please, whatever you do, do not make your kids buy their dad anything for Father’s Day (especially a tie). Fathers don’t want anything (unless it’s a Black 1962 Lincoln Continental Convertible with suicide doors). They don’t want boxer shorts or a singing card. They don’t want cologne or new socks. Stumped for ideas on where to shop for Dad this year? Seminole Heights Patch has picked some of the neighborhood's most unique shops.
Contrary to popular belief, fathers are not easy to shop for. The department stores try to make shopping for Father's Day about buying up leather wallets, dress shirts and coffee mugs screen printed with "World's Greatest Dad." But honestly, do you think Dad really wants another neck tie promoting wildlife conservation, that he will enjoy a shoe shine kit or that he really needs one more set of neon golf balls (especially if he doesn't play)? That's why Patch has culled some of Central Tampa's most unique — and definitely dad-oriented — places for Father's Day gift ideas.

LOL. So apparently all men are the same. The generalization of males here is about the same as comparing every woman to the cover of vogue magazine - or better yet, saying we all belong in the kitchen. Because since you're that "typical" boring cookie cutter version of a man, we do, right?   more ›
