Update: Police Arrest Serial Burglar Driving Dark-Colored Nissan

Duane Armstrong, 34, of Sulphur Spring, was arrested at his house on Thursday, April 19.

He would arrive driving a charcoal-grey Nissan Altima with black rims and would make sure no one was home, sometimes by ringing the door bell. Then, he would break into the house by smashing a rear window and take off with jewelry and electronics he either pawned or kept at his Sulphur Spring home, accordind to the Tampa Police Department. Duane Armstrong, 34, committed dozens of burglaries throughout Tampa and possibly Hillsborough County and other surrounding counties over the past year, according to Tampa Police. On Thursday, April 19, Tampa Police District 2 officers arrested Armstrong at his home, 8502 N. 15th St., where they discovered a variety of stolen items, such as jewelry, foreign coins, firearms, and electronics, said Tampa …

Police Warn of Emerging Pattern in Residential Burglaries

Tampa Police Department District 2 has seen an emerging pattern in residential burglaries. According to a crime alert, last Friday, April 7, at about 12.10 a.m., two suspects were witnessed attempting to kick in the front door to a residence in the 6000 block of North Orange Blossom Avenue. The suspects left walking westbound on West Idlewild Avenue after realizing that they were being watched. Both suspects were described as two black males in their late 20s, medium build and 5-foot-10. One suspect wore camouflage-patterned shorts and a white T-shirt. Get Involved — Prevent Burglaries

Being quick to dial the cops could help stem a rash of recent burglaries in South Seminole Heights.

I see them almost every day. If you live in or around South Seminole Heights like I do, then chances are you’ve seen them too. The people that are breaking in to our homes, that is. There’s been a recent rash of burglaries here, too. According to the Tampa Police Department, there have been eight reported burglaries in the area since August. “They’re on a roll, definitely,” said Rebecca Jones, a neighborhood affairs liaison. The break-ins include: What’s more, this crime isn’t being perpetrated by one or two thugs on a spree. Thus far, only two people have been arrested in connection with two of the burglaries. We have a kid (15 years and taller than most adults!) down the street from us who has been busted burglarizing homes and stealing cars 4 times this past year yet the States Atty keeps dropping the charges and reducing them. How can we protect our homes and cars if they keep letting the little theifs out!   more ›
