Tampa Lawyer Donates $2,000 to Make Roads Safer for Bicyclists

A SWFBUD member donated $2,000 to Tampa Police for more "Share the Road It's the Law" decals to be applied on Tampa Police cruisers' rear windows.

South West Florida Bicycle United Dealers (SWFBUD), the alliance of Tampa Bay retail bicycle stores and bicycle lawyers committed to growing bicycling in Tampa Bay, is proud to announce that SWFBUD member J. Steele Olmstead donated $2,000 to the Tampa Police Department for more Share the Road It's the Law decals to be placed on police cars' rear windows. Olmstead, a Tampa lawyer and bicyclist who has been a SWFBUD member for the past two years, presented his contribution to Tampa Police Chief Jane Castor and Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn during a check presentation ceremony in front of Tampa Police Department headquarters in downtown Tampa on Wednesday, April 25. Local Biking Club and Co-op Offer Alternatives to Riders

Bicyclists can have fun riding or even fixing their bikes in Seminole Heights.

Some Central Tampa biking enthusiasts are hard-core, but they don't have to be. Seminole Heights is a great place for folks who simply want to have fun while riding bikes. Since 2007, members of the Seminole Heights Bicycle Club have been getting together for casual bike rides around the neighborhood. The club has no dues or official members. It's an informal group of people who love bicycling. Organizer Alan Snel said there are plenty of hard-core cyclist groups in town, and he wanted to create an experience that was simply enjoyable for people. "That's really the future of growing bicycling in this country," he said. The group meets for bicycle rides on most Saturday mornings at 8:30 a.m., but be sure to check the website for updates. …
