Three houses near Seminole Heights may have been intentionally set on fire, according to Tampa Fire Rescue Officials. The three fires were reported at the following addresses and times: At the first fire on Highland Ave., officials say a witness may have seen someone leaving the scene of the fire. Officials searched the area for over two hours using K-9 patrols, helicopters and other officers. A house at 1503 North Nebraska Avenue was found burning just before 1 a.m. last night. Tampa Police are now investigating the incident as a possible arson. Officials say that it is not immediately clear how the fire started and that no injuries are reported in the incident. Police believe the home may have been used to house squatters. No further information was immediately available, but arson investigators remained on scene Tuesday morning.

Two men have been charged with first-degree arson after a rash of fires at the J.L. Young Apartments
Tampa Police have arrested two men in connection with a rash of fires at the J.L. Young Apartments, 8220 N. Florida Ave. The suspects were identified as Jacinto Rodriguez Vazquez, 66, and Edwin Torres, 59, both residents of the apartment complex, according to a news release by police spokeswoman Andrea Davis. Police detectives and Tampa Fire Rescue have been investigating nine arsons between Sept. 21 and Saturday at the apartment complex, Davis said. Investigators placed surveillance cameras around the location in hopes of catching the culprits in the act. On Friday morning, officers responded to the apartments for an arson report. Tampa Fire Rescue has been called to the same V.M. Ybor home numerous times.
Multiple units from Tampa Fire Rescue responded to an overnight fire at 1412 E. 21st Ave. in V.M. Ybor, Captain Lonnie Benniefield said in a news release. The fire was reported at 12:02 a.m. Monday, and crews were on scene within five minutes. It took firefighters almost 40 minutes to get the fire under control, Benniefield said. No injuries were reported. Monday's fire originated in the shed and spread to the home, Tampa Police spokeswoman Andrea Davis said. Both were vacant.
