Before hiring this "licensed and bonded" pet care business. Please do yourself a favor and check all the paperwork. Make sure of the bonding, and ask what happens if your pet is left in their care and then is abused and ends up dying? Will they take care of your devastating loss in any way? Will they be honest and tell you what happened? Will they make sure that they do what they were paid to do and keep your loved animal safe? - I am sure all of the verbal answers will be what you want to hear, but get it in writing and make sure you know how and with whom they are insured with. Otherwise you could be left like a recent customer, with nothing but a shaky story and a dead animal.... and no apology, no remuneration, and no closure... Hiring a pet sitter is meant to be a care free and rewarding experience, not a horror show which removes all trust from a pet owner for these types of businesses.... GET IT IN WRITING - MAKE SURE THAT THIS PET SERVICE WILL TAKE CARE OF YOUR PET!

My friends dog got loose while in the care of this company. The owner did not tell my friend that she was going on vacation herself and was using someone else to substitute. Accidents do happen, but to try to cover it up and not tell the truth is even worse. Do not use this company.
I left my three Shiba Inus with Peggy and was not told for 13 hours my dog Julie had gone missing only to further discover that Peggy went to Puerto Rico without my knowledge. My dogs were left with a person that I have never met. The dogs were crated inside and left outside unattended. My little girl Julie who was only 14 pounds escaped from the back yard and was killed on Sligh Avenue. This was so senseless.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! My friend's dog just died as a result of PJ's negligence. PJ went out of town herself and lied to them about doing so, while entrusting their dogs to her "assistant" whom my friends had never met nor approved. The dogs were left unattended in the yard and one got out and was struck by a car and killed. To make matters worse, the owner PJ lied to my friend while their dog was missing, and told them that she was out looking for her and posting signs, when really she was away on her own vacation. If you value the lives of your pets, do not leave them with this sitter! I know I will not be!
I need to go on record and let everyone know that I hired PJ Steinberger to take care of my dogs during our recent trip to California. PJ is a licensed and insured dog walker. While we were gone PJ decided to take a trip of her own to Puerto Rico and left our dogs without our knowledge in the care of her "assistant" whom we never met. We did not find out until 13 after the fact that Julie had escaped from the back yard. Further we did not know PJ was out of town until we spoke to a former neighbor who also used PJ's Dog Walking Services. PJ lied and told me she was putting up posters and looking for Julie when in fact she was in transit back from Puerto Rico. Our dogs were crated in the house unattended and were left in the backyard unsupervised when Julie escaped from the yard and was struck and killed by a car on Sligh Avenue near the Lowry Park Zoo. Please spread the word to every dog owner you know to not use Yanni's Pet Sitting Services. O STARS

PJ has been pet sitting for us now for 2 years and we wouldn't trust anyone else with our furry babies. She goes above AND beyond the call of duty. THANK YOU PJ!

I have been a customer of Yanni's Pet Sitting for two years. I have boarded my dog with Yanni's countless times. Yanni's walks my dog every day. The owner, PJ, is one of the sweetest people I have ever met. I would not trust my dog with another company.
Clearly, the number of recent negative reviews is related to one issue that happened while under the care of Yanni's. I understand the loss of an animal is devastating, especially when it is an accident. But to enlist the help of your friends, who have absolutely no customer relationship with Yanni's, to smear the reputation of a small business makes me question the integrity of that individual (and her friends).
As far as the suggestion that an owner of a company should report the plans of her personal life to her customer base is absurd. Furthermore, an owner of a company is allowed to hire employees to perform professional duties on behalf of the company without disclosing it to their customer base.
I prefer Yanni's Pet Sitting for boarding my dog because the dogs are NOT in crates the entire time while under their care. I presume this owner also valued this aspect of boarding with Yanni's, otherwise she would have boarded her dogs with a boarding place that crates them 22 hours out of the day.
In summary, I'd put Yanni's Pet Sitting up against any other Pet Sitting place in Tampa. They provide a superior service and they should not have their name and reputation smeared as a result of one incident/accident.
