On any given day you can find families enjoying Wellswood Park's many amenities. Of all of central Tampa's parks, Wellswood may just be the most colorful, as evidenced by its shiny red fire engine slide and a mini outdoor gallery of children's art. The playground was renovated in Oct. 8, 2009 by more than 200 volunteers from not-for-profit KaBOOM! and Mutual of Omaha Insurance Company as part of an effort to provide a great place to play within walking distance of every child in America. The playground is bordered by a baseball field to the west. Hanging on a fence on the north side of the basketball courts is where you'll find children's paintings inspired by their new playground. Wellswood Park Center also offers the city's After School Activity Program (ASAP).
