Volunteers Renovate Home for Teacher

The Hope For Homes Project brought together neighbors, friends and folks just wanting to lend a hand to help a woman raising four adopted children and a grandchild.

Over the weekend, a Tampa teacher raising four adopted children and a grandchild as part of the Hope for Homes Project.

Current of Tampa Bay, Inc., sponsored their third Hope for Homes Project at the home of Frankie Jones, 3606 E. Genesee St.

The project averaged about 15-20 volunteers a day between Friday and Sunday, and nearly 100 people came to welcome the family back home on Sunday. Home repairs for this family included work on the conditioning, roof, drywall, interior and exterior painting and lawn maintenance.

After a little more than 72 hours, Jones and her family were ready to see their remodeled home.

"This Hope for Homes Project in East Tampa was an awesome show of love and support for this family," said Current of Tampa Bay, Inc. Founder and President Jason Sowell. "The community came together to provide volunteer support for Frankie and her family to not just repair their home but to give them hope. This project also shows what can happen when a few people work together to assist a family and their community."

HFH projects generally range from small remodel or repair jobs to more extensive needed repairs which help Tampa families enjoy a better quality of life.
