Neighborly Help in Hampton Terrace

A group of neighbors volunteered to help clear brush for a family in need.

A group of Hampton Terrace residents spent Saturday morning helping a neighbor by clearing out vines, limbs and trash from a thicket that had overwhelmed a line of trees in his yard.

Resident Ivansson Pierrelouis said he was really touched by the efforts of his neighbors to help him. Due to health and work issues, Pierrelouis had been unable to do more than clear away trash and low-lying weeds. Now, the line of trees will be more manageable, he said.

"I haven't every met anybody who wanted to volunteer," he said. "This is new to me. It's the kind of stuff you see on TV. I thought people like this didn't exist anymore."
