Hillsborough and Chamberlain Athletes Push Teammates

A Hillsborough speedster is having success on the track while a sophomore is lighting up the diamond at Chamberlain.

Male Athlete of the Week: Anthony Brown

The junior track star and football player at Hillsborough High School is running away from opponents with ease this season.

Brown decided to run track in order to stay in shape and have something to do during the football offseason.This is his first season running for coach Joseph Sipp.

He has been a crucial part of the team's victories at the Steinbrenner Invitational, as well as the Charles Johnson and Nash Higgins meets thanks to his speed in the 100 and 200 meter races. He currently ranks third in the state in the 100 meters.

"Everybody is shocked," Brown said. "To be honest, I am too a little bit. I knew I was fast but I didn't expect to have this much success running track for the first time."

Female Athlete of the Week: Kelly Smith

Chamberlain High School's sophomore at first or third is stepping up her game with a .333 batting average. She has driven in four runs and crossed the plate five times in nine games played.

Smith has made few errors in the field this year with a current fielding average of .945. She scored twice in the Chiefs win over Leto this week and is proving a valuable asset to a Chamberlain team currently touting a 10-0 league record.
