Why go: Lowry Park Zoo presents its seventh annual ZOOZoom, a 5K run that winds through the zoo and along the scenic Hillsborough River. 

Registration fee includes admission to the zoo for the day for the entrant only, T-shirt and post-race refreshments.  Early Bird registrants also receive an extra zoo ticket for a friend or another time.

Why go: The Chiselers 49th Annual One Day Market is prepared to once again stage Tampa's Favorite Sale. Chiselers, Inc., a non-profit organization since 1959, has been collecting donations from the community since last summer. The warehouse is buzzing and packed with treasures that will be moved to the 1891 Tampa Bay Hotel, now home to the University of Tampa, for the sale on March 10th. The sale held during the University’s Spring break, takes over the main floor of the old Hotel which is a very large area.

Don't miss this fantastic SHOPPING OPPORTUNITY in a historical setting. There will be items galore for the whole family at bargain basement prices including furniture, plants, art, kitchenware, tools, toys, china, crystal, and jewelry. The famous Bargain Center will again be featured as part of the sale. Delicious food and drink will be available for purchase, so please make a day of it! All proceeds will be used for the historic restoration of the much loved Tampa Bay Hotel.

Why go: The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra -- comprising 15 of the finest jazz soloists and ensemble players today -- performs a repertoire including historic compositions and arrangements by Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Thelonious Monk, Dizzy Gillespie and others.

With music director and trumpet player Wynton Marsalis.

Why go: The Florida Museum of Photographic Arts celebrates its new home with this gala featuring cocktails and hors d'oeuvres by Malio's, a live auction of art by local photographers, a silent auction, music, a pop-art photo booth, and dessert. Please wear black, white or "brilliant" attire (black tie optional).

Cost: $75 per person (includes annual FMoPA membership) or $125 per couple (includes a family museum membership)

Why go: On the second Saturday of each month our ride leaves promptly at 8:30 a.m. from the Seminole Heights Garden Center, 5800 N. Central Ave. We alternate routes from month to month. The pace is moderate (10-16 mph), the routes average 10 miles roundtrip and usually include a stop at a coffee shop along the way. Please come with your helmet on your head, air in your tires, and brakes that work, ready to experience the beauty of Central Tampa on two wheels.

Where/when: 1800 E 8th Ave, Ybor City, Saturday, 9 a.m.

Why go: The Ybor City Market takes place every Saturday in Centennial Park. This event features a wide range of vendors offering fresh produce, prepared foods, plants, pet items and crafts. Dogs are welcome.

Where/when: 11315 N 46th St, Saturday, 10 a.m.

Why go: 

Step back in time and enjoy the magic, juggling, storytelling, music, food, drinks, crafts, games, and performances of another age in this replica of a 16th-century village.

Regular entertainment includes live armored jousting, acrobatics, dance from Demzarah Gypsies, comedy such as Christophe the Insultor, the New Minstrel Revue, and "live mermaids and monsters" at the Mythical Monster Museum.

Theme weekends (listed below) add additional entertainment and competitions. Most include either a free beer or wine tasting and a renewal of vows at 11am (check in at the gate if you're interested).

Each theme weekend also has a related pub crawl for an additional fee.

Pets are permitted at the festival with a $10 admission fee and registration form. Discount tickets ($3 off regular admission price) are available at MOSI and participating Walgreens and Circle K stores.

NOTE: March 23 is "Festival Friday," an educational day for students and chaperones to visit the festival. The festival is open to the public that day, however.

March 31 and April 1: "German Invasion: Halfway to Oktoberfest" (includes a royal archery tournament, a German market, a best-beard competition, a bratwurst-eating competition, an alpine-yodeling competition, and a battle-cry competition)

Cost: $18.95 at the gate for adults; $14.95 at the gate for seniors; $10.95 at the gate for children ages 5 to 12

Why go: Come ride with us as we explore Tampa by bicycle. We will ride leisurely along shady streets, and city bike paths as we tour Seminole Heights, Ybor City, Channelside, Harbor Island and downtown Tampa. Our return will follow the Hillsborough River through Riverside Heights, Tampa Heights and South Seminole Heights. We'll sample breakfast downtown at the new Taco Bus before returning to enjoy the Sunday Market at Hillsborough High School. Secured bicycle parking is provided at the Market, courtesy of the Seminole Heights Bicycle Club. This is a great ride for novice riders or those new to Tampa. 16 miles at 10-14 mph. Helmets are required.

Why go: The Seminole Heights Sunday Morning Market -- “Fresh, Local & Lively” -- started in 2010, is held on the second Sunday of each month from 9am-2pm on the front lawn of Hillsborough High School, 5000 N. Central Ave.

This market opens the second Sunday in October and runs until the second Sunday in May.  It supports 100 to 130 vendors and caters to all four neighborhoods in Seminole Heights and its neighbors.

Expecty to find a vast variety of Organic, Hydroponic & Conventional Produce, Plants, Herbs, Fresh Flowers, Gourmet Takehome Foods & Ready to Eat Foods. 

Live Music starts at 10am and runs till 2pm.  Also featuring two massage therapists on site, and kids activities provided by www.fitkidsplayground.com
