Get Out: Weekend Events Preview April 6-8

Lots going on besides Easter festivities, including the Yankees, stand-up comedy, and eclectic music and art.

Why go: Henry Plant furnished the Tampa Bay Hotel with treasures from around the world. This exhibit explores the deliberate presence of Japanese art in a Gilded Age resort as part of a larger discourse on a cultural, artistic, and aesthetic style that influenced 19th century Western artists and culture. The foundation of this exhibit will draw from Mr. Plant’s collection of Meiji era floor vases, ceramics and furniture that were part of the Tampa Bay Hotel. Works will also be on loan from private collections, Grolier Club, Museum of Fine Arts, St. Petersburg, Morikami Museum and Polk Museum of Art.

Why go: The zoo's Bornean orangutan family has some Easter fun with their own egg hunt, a seasonal treat for both the primates and zoo guests, officials say.

Why go: Celebrate Easter with the Tampa Yankees tonight as the team hosts an Easter egg hunt on the infield and outfiled grass for children ages 10 and younger. Gates open at 5:30pm; the hunt begins at 6pm. There will be prizes in each egg, plus a bounce house and face-painter on site, the team says.

Please bring your own basket for eggs. Tampa Fire Rescue and Bill Currie Ford also will display several of their vehicles in the plaza for fans.

Stick around after the hunt for tonight's game against the Lakeland Flying Tigers starting at 7pm.

Tonight's promotion: $1 soda, $10 all-you-can-eat chicken wings, and select drink specials on the Tampa Tribune Deck from 6pm to 8pm.

Why go: On the first Saturday of each month, this ride leaves promptly at 8:30am from 1203 East Powhatan Avenue. All bicyclists of any age will enjoy this easy-going ride of about 6 miles. Bring the kids, your parents, grandparents, neighbors, and anyone else interested in doing a leisurely-paced route around the northeastern section of Seminole Heights with no busy roads to deal with. We'll circle around beautiful Lake Roberta and see how the ducks are doing!

As always, helmets are required and participants ride at their own risk. Please check that your tires are properly inflated and that your brakes are in good working order before you head out to join us for this scenic ride.
