Whiz Kids: Four Tampa Catholic Athletes Sign Scholarship Intents

Four recent graduates make college commitments.

Recent Tampa Catholic High School graduates Lashawn Harrison, Aaron Buckley, Austin Griffin and Zach Grant have signed college letters of intent. The signings took place at the Crusaders gym with family, coaches, faculty and fellow students attending.

Buckley, a standout linebacker and fullback for the Crusaders football team, will attend John Carroll University, a Catholic university in Cleveland, Ohio.  A two-year starter for TC after transferring from Alonzo, Buckley had more than 100 tackles and will play linebacker for the Blue Streaks.

Grant, who played wide receiver for the Crusaders, will attend Thiel College in Greenville, PA.

Austin Griffin, who returned five kickoffs or punts for touchdowns this past season, signed a letter of intent with the Ohio Northern University Polar Bears. Griffin, who excelled in both track and football in his two years at TC, will be utilized as a defensive back and kick returner for the school in Ada, OH.

Lashawn Harrison will attend St. John’s River Community College in Palatka. Harrison scored more than 1,000 points in a stellar basketball career at TC and was a captain of the team that reached the State Class 3A Final Four. Harrison led the Crusaders in points (18.0 ppg), assists (3.3) and steals (3.0) last season.
