Two Tampa Schools Budgeted to Receive iPads for Every Student and Teacher

Ferrell and Franklin middle schools to become single gender academies in the fall. The $50,000 technology purchase will be voted on by the school board on Tuesday.

Students and teachers at Hillsborough County's new single gender middle schools could receive iPads this fall, according to an article posted Friday on TBO.com by reporter Sherri Ackerman of The Tampa Tribune.

Ferrell Middle Magnet School is located at 4302 N. 24th St. and will become an all-girls school. Franklin Middle Magnet School is located at 3915 21st Ave. and will become an all-boys school.

The iPads were included in the district's proposed budget, but because the costs exceed $50,000 benchmark the School Board must approve the plan, Ackerman wrote in the article. The money will come from the Magnet Schools Assistance Program Grant and federal Title I money.
