Tampa Catholic Announces 2011 Hall of Fame Athletes

Five alumni are honored for outstanding performances.

Tampa Catholic High School has released the names of the 2011 inductees into the school’s Athletic Hall of Fame. The inductees will be recognized at the Inaugural Tampa Catholic Hall of Fame Dinner on Aug. 6.

 The 2011 Athletic Hall inductees are:

  • Kathy Buresh, 1978, swimming
  • Michael Latson, 1970, track
  • Donald Booth, 1966, football
  • Kimberly Lawrence, 1981, girls basketball
  • 1967 state championship track team

 The Tampa Catholic High School Athletic Hall of Fame recognizes individuals, teams, coaches and contributors whose outstanding performance or service distinguishes them as and brings prestige to Tampa Catholic High School and who demonstrate the character and values that define the highest principles of sport. Induction into the Tampa Catholic Athletic Hall of Fame is the highest honor afforded by the Tampa Catholic Athletic Department.

Nominations were solicited from the Tampa Catholic community and the inductees were selected by a committee consisting of school Principal Thomas J. Reidy, Athletic Director Freddie Langiotti, Assistant Athletic Director Don Dziagwa, faculty members Deb Radel and Pat Shuck, alumnus Vince Scanio (1986), former TC Athletic Directors Tom Murray and Nick DiMaggio and TC Alumni Director and alumna Roz Rodriguez (1973).
 
Additionally, nine Hall of Fame members will be reintroduced and recognized for their accomplishments in boys basketball. They are Cory Kosiba (1989), Chris Kosiba (1993), Kelly Hite (1996), Eric Hayes (1993), Otis Kitchen (1996), Renaldo Garcia (1987), Gerald White (1985), Curt Fiser (1984) and Tony Moore (1972).
 
The Aug. 6 dinner also kicks off Tampa Catholic's 50th anniversary celebration that runs through November 2012.
