Presidents Day is observed annually on the third Monday of February. It was originally established in 1885 to celebrate George Washington’s birthday. Now it’s considered a day to honor all presidents, according to History.com.

It’s a federal holiday, which means many government offices are closed and the United States Postal Service won’t be delivering mail.
