The top 128 First Tech Challenge robotics teams from around the world met to compete for the FTC World Championship in St. Louis, MO, April 25-28.

Although most teams were from the United States, there were teams from China, India, Romania, the Netherlands, Canada, Mexico, South Korea, Australia, and Saudi Arabia.

After two days of qualifying matches, 24 teams moved on to the semi-finals  – 12 teams in the Edison Division, including Middleton’s Masquerade, and 12 teams in the Franklin Division.

Just like in football, the champions of each division played in the ‘Super Bowl’, aka the FTC World Championship.

The Franklin Division was expected to win; however, the Edison Team, which included Middleton’s Masquerade, prevailed, winning two out of the three matches.

The 12-member team of freshmen and sophomores, which included Middleton’s Masquerade, set a world record of 869 points, well above the tournament's next highest score of 711, and crushing the previous world record of 591 points, according to TBO.com.
