"We have one of the strongest FTC Robotics teams in Florida," said Kathy Freriks, lead teacher for magnet programs at Middleton, in an email to Patch.

The robotics competition is for high school students who want to develop their skills in science, technology, engineering, and math. Student build robots to perform challenging maneuvers, such as stacking crates, rolling a bowling ball into a goal, and negotiating around a field filled with obstacles — all during timed matches.

The robotics teams will now begin fundraising and preparing for the trip to the World Robotics Championships.
