Middleton High Grad is County's Youngest Bus Driver

The Tampa Tribune profiled a 22-year-old Middleton High graduate who is Hillsborough County's youngest school bus driver in its Thursday edition.

Maurice Jones has been driving a bus for the district since last fall, the Tribune reports. It's a part-time job for Jones, who also takes night classes at the University of South Florida to finish up his accounting degree.

Jones said he enjoys interacting with the students from Heritage Elementary, Buchanan Middle and Wharton High schools on his route.

"I try to build a relationship with them when I can," Jones told the nespaper. "You have some who are going to be downright rebellious. Those you just have to handle."

Jones also works as a mentor for freshmen students in the College Assistance Migrant Program, the Tribune reports.
