Medical Marijuana: Time to Make it Legal in Florida?

A recent case out of Pasco County has brought this controversial issue to the forefront. We'd like your take on it.

Pasco County’s Alfred Robinson, 59, says he uses marijuana instead of prescription pills to treat severe back pain caused by degenerative disc disease.

That decision just earned him three years’ probation courtesy of a July arrest where Pasco County deputies caught him with two pot plants, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

Robinson’s court case has once again cast a spotlight on a movement that would make medicinal marijuana legal in the state of Florida. Robinson’s supporters showed up to his Aug. 19 court hearing to lend their voices to the cause. Some collected signatures to get the issue of legalizing marijuana on the 2014 Florida ballot.

Those who say Florida should legalize the medical use of marijuana are organized. The Marijuana Policy Project, for example, has a website dedicated to the cause.
