Mayor Presents Budget to Tampa City Council

Buckhorn proposes $765.4M budget, cutting $34.7M from last year.

Tampabay.com reporter Tia Mitchell has posted an article detailing the proposed budget presented today by Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn to the City Council during its regular session.

The $765.4 million dollar budget proposes cutting spending from the previous year by $34.7 million and eliminating 21 vacant jobs. According to Mitchell's article, Buckhorn's plan does not call for raises in property taxes or layoffs, however it does seek increasing the Tampa Electric franchise fee and using $6 million in reserves.

The Council must approve a balanced budget before the fiscal year begins Oct. 1.
