Mayor Names Tom Scott to Tampa Sports Authority

The former city council chairman and county commissioner will serve a four-year unpaid term.

TBO.com reporter Christian Wade posted an article Thursday reporting that Mayor Bob Buckhorn has named Tom Scott, who unsuccessfully ran against Buckhorn in the last election, to serve on the Tampa Sports Authority.

Scott was most recently chairman of the City Council and represented District 5, which consists of portions of Seminole Heights, Ybor City and East Tampa. He was elected to the Hillsborough Board of County Commissioners in 1996 and served three terms as the commission chairman. He previously served on the TSA from July 2008 until April 1, when the new mayor and council were sworn into office.

The City Council will vote on Scott’s appointment on May 19. If he is confirmed, his term will begin July 1.
