Mayor Buckhorn Dedicating Mural in Ybor City on Tuesday

The mural is on Adamo Drive between 17th and 18th streets, according to city officials.

Mayor Bob Buckhorn and Tampa community leaders are dedicating the Adamo Driver Mural at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21.

The mural, which covers a large warehouse that spans two blocks, will be along Adamo Drive between 17th and 19th streets.

Michael Parker, a local artist overseeing the project, taught a class at Hillsborough Community College specifically for the mural, and researched the neighborhood by interviewing residents.

That feedback combined with the area's history has been integrated into the content of the mural. HCC students also helped Parker paint the large scale project.

“The mural is a tribute to the history of Ybor City," said Buckhorn in a news release. "It even reflects the character of the neighborhood today; it’s bright, interesting, and forward-looking. Public art projects like this are an important economic driver and help us define Ybor as a creative place.”
