Residents may register for free Community Emergency Response Team training.

From the City of Tampa:

The City of Tampa will offer a free basic Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training class from Aug. 20 through Sept. 17. The class will be held on four Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Tampa Fire Rescue training center, 116 S 34th St. Registration will be at 8:30 a.m. the first Saturday.

The course provides citizens with basic skills needed during a major disaster. This training allows graduates to respond to the immediate needs of their community in the aftermath of a major disaster - the time when emergency services may not be immediately available.
