Have You Gotten a Ticket for Flashing Your Headlights?

A Tampa resident is taking action against the Florida Highway Patrol after he was ticketed for flashing his high beams at other drivers.

After the warning comes the ticket.

The Florida Highway Patrol has issued more than 10,429 tickets since 2005 to motorists flashing the headlights to warn other drivers of upcoming speed traps, according to a report from Channel 10 News

But after receiving a $100 citation for improper flashing of high beams, Tampa resident Eric Campbell is determined to prove that his habit is not illegal under Florida law. Campbell has filed a class action lawsuit against FHP seeking a refund of the $100 ticket and damages in excess of $15,000, according to the Channel 10 News report
