Early Voting for Aug. 14 Primary Begins Today

All eligible voters can cast their ballot at any of the 15 approved Early Voting site in Hillsborough County.

News Report

Early Voting for the 2012 Primary Election begins today in Hillsborough County.

Unlike voting on Election Day, early voting allows all eligible voters to cast their ballot at any of the 15 approved Early Voting sites in Hillsborough County.

In a Florida Primary Election, only voters who are registered with a political

party can vote for their party's candidates.

However, all registered voters, regardless of party affiliation, can vote in nonpartisan races (School Board and judicial candidates) and contests where all candidates have the same political affiliation, and the winner of the primary election will not have any opposition in the general.

Among the races on the Republican primary ballot are U.S. senator, U.S. Congress districts 14 and 17, Florida Senate District 24, property appraiser and state House District 59.

Featured races on the Democratic ballot include U.S. senator and supervisor of elections.

On the nonpartisan ballot are the School Board and judicial races.

Sample ballots are attached to this article.

Excluding Sundays, Early Voting for the 2012 Primary Election will take place from Monday, July 30 to Saturday, Aug. 11. Hours of operation vary depending on Early Vote site.

Early voting sites include:

  • North Tampa Branch Library, 8916 North Blvd., Tampa.
  • C. Blythe Andrews Jr. Public Library, 2607 East Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Tampa.

Polls at these locations are open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Remember to bring a valid photo and signature ID when you go to vote.

Examples of acceptable valid photo IDs include:

  • Florida driver license
  • Florida ID card issued by the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles
  • Debit or credit card
  • Military ID
  • Student ID
  • Retirement center ID

Yes, Page--I love the idea of a little fresh foods market...prepared foods, produce...it would be soRead More nice to have a place to walk to with the kids in the late afternoon, pick up a snack and some veggies for that night's dinner...a place with outdoor seating that would be a neighborhood gathering spot. A place that would become a 3x a week stop for neighbors, a place people enjoy "running up" to. I'm excited to see what happens!

I would love to see a small market in the neighborhood also. With fresh produce, and other basicRead More necessities for cooking, that you might have just run out of or forgot to pick up when you did your weekly shopping. Plus a nice selection of wine. Circle K has a good selection of beer, but there isn't a good selection of wines in the neighborhood for takeaway.

I would like to see another Family Dollar. One on every corner is not enough.
