Today: Demolition of Seminole Heights Library

The Seminole Heights Branch Library will be demolished Tuesday, Nov. 20, at 10 a.m. Contractors will use a large excavator to demolish the library.

The Seminole Heights Branch Library closed on Wednesday, Oct. 31. This heavily-used neighborhood library will be rebuilt in the same location, tripling its size to meet the needs of the community.

When it is completed in the winter of 2013, the new two-story, 22,000-square-foot library will include:

• a large community room that can be divided into two rooms
• small meeting and study rooms
• many more public Internet computers
• a computer lab
• children’s department
• teen room
• additional parking

In 2010, the County purchased approximately a half-acre of additional adjoining property from the Hillsborough County School Board to provide an enlarged 1.2 acre site for the new library. Construction for the project, funded through the Capital Improvement Program at $3,878,080, is expected to be complete in late 2013.

While the new library is being built, customers are encouraged to use the following nearby libraries:

• North Tampa Library at 8916 North Boulevard
• C. Blythe Andrews Library at 2607 E. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
• Robert W. Saunders, Sr. Library at 1505 Nebraska Ave.
• John F. Germany Library at 900 N. Ashley Drive
