Update: Water Main Break Closes Portion of E. Osborne Avenue

An area of East Osborne Avenue near North Suwanee Avenue is blocked off, and school bus routes to Hillsborough High and Memorial Middle School are affected.

The Tampa Water Department reports that East Osborne Avenue will be closed in both directions between North Florida and North Central avenues while crews repair a a damaged water line. 

Repairs and road restoration are expected to be completed by 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Mar. 8, depending on weather conditions. Barricades and signs are located in the area to assist with traffic flow.

A water main break discovered on East Osborne Avenue early Tuesday morning has diverted bus routes and caused officials to block off the area, Tampa Police said.

An officer on patrol discovered the water main break around 4:43 a.m. on East Osborne, about 50 feet east of North Suwanee Avenue. A "small amount of water flow" was reported earlier this morning by police officials.

The City of Tampa Water Department is on scene and has blocked off the immediate area, police said in a media release. School bus routes to and are affected, as well as HART bus routes.

It is undetermined how long it will take to repair the break, officials said, but motorists should expect the area to be closed off most of the day.
