UPDATE: Photos, Details of Possible Arsons Near Seminole Heights

The fires were all near the intersection of Dr. Martin Luther King Blvd. and Florida Ave.

Three houses near Seminole Heights may have been intentionally set on fire, according to Tampa Fire Rescue Officials.

The three fires were reported at the following addresses and times:

  • 5:47 am, 3809 North Highland Ave. (vacant home destroyed)
  • 6:27 am, 3810 North Tampa St. (minor damage to vacant home)
  • 6:29 am, 3802 North Arlington Ave. (minor damage to vacant home)

At the first fire on Highland Ave., officials say a witness may have seen someone leaving the scene of the fire. Officials searched the area for over two hours using K-9 patrols, helicopters and other officers.  

While working to control the first fire, crews observed a second structure on fire on North Tampa St. This fire was nearby to the first fire. An alley connectedthe areas, officials said.

Again, crews noticed a third fire while working to control the second blaze.

Once the second fire was discovered, Tampa's Arson Task Force was
activated, officials report. It includes Tampa Fire Rescue, the State Fire Marshal and the Tampa Police Department's Homicide Squad. At this time, all three cases are under investigation.
