Tampa Police: Robbery, Burglaries, and Missing Car Seats Under Investigation

An armed robber is sought after holding up the Ponce De Leon Grocery, and two seats disappeared from a convertible after its top was torn open.

Nov. 11

  • Unknown suspect(s) kicked in the back door of the victim’s home on the 1200 block of E Caracas Street and stole two LCD TVs (42", 32"), jewelry, 300 DVDs, two X-Box gaming systems, and 16 video games. Lost items totaled at $7,700. Investigators were able to locate a shoe print.
  • Unknown suspect(s) entered the residence on the 4600 block of N Webster Street via an unlocked window on the rear of the home (there are burglar bars, but a thin person or child could fit through the gap on the sides). The suspect(s) stole a 40" LCD Samsung TV valued at $549 and fled undetected out a side door. Fingerprints were taken at the scene.
  • The suspect, entered the unattached building (workshop) on the property n on the 1800 block of N 36th Street and was in the process of removing a hot tub when officers arrived on scene. The investigation revealed that the suspect did not have permission to enter the building or remove the property. The defendant admitted he did not have the property owner’s permission to enter the building and remove the hot tub. The defendant’s vehicle was seized for forfeiture as a result of this incident.

Nov. 12

  • Unknown suspect(s) used a unknown instrument to unlock the rear door and enter the residence on the 200 block of E Moore Avenue. The suspect(s) took a Sony Vaio laptop computer and a 16-inch flat screen television.
  • A vehicle was broken into on the 4900 block of N 10th Street. Taken were items valued at $370. The culprit fled undetected.
  • Over $1,000 worth of tools were stolen from an unlocked back yard shed on the 2000 block of Flagler Street while the house was occupied. The suspect fled through a back gate.
  • The suspect approached the victim at Lykes Gaslight Square Park, 410 N Franklin St., and initiated a conversation. The suspect punched the victim in the face knocking him to the ground. The suspect took the victim's cash and watch and fled. The victim walked home and reported the incident two hours later. The victim suffered minor injuries.
  • An unidentified suspect entered a vehicle without permission on the 800 block of N Ashley Drive and removed luggage and a silver Apple Mac Book computer valued at $7,000. There were no witnesses.

  • $5 and a pair of sunglasses was stolen from a vehicle at 1810 E Palm Ave.
  • An armed robbery was reported at the Ponce De Leon Grocery at 3209 N 22nd St. The suspect pointed a handgun at the employees and demanded money from the owner. The owner gave money to the suspect, who then fled northeast from the store.

Nov. 14

  • A trailer was stolen from the backyard of a house on the 3600 block of E Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. after the culprit cut a hole in the chain linked fence. The person fled undetected.
  • Someone climbed through the window of a residence on the 500 block of W Virginia Avenue. Being fleeing, the suspect stole pills and a gold bracelet.
  • An air conditioning unit was stolen from the back yard of a residence on the 3100 block of E Chelsea St. The suspect(s) also smashed a side window and entered the residence before fleeing.
  • A house on the 200 block of E Selma Ave. was broken in to after a window air conditioning unit was removed. Approximately $520 of items were stolen.
  • A suspect jumped a back yard fence on the 300 block of W Louisiana Avenue and stole a mountain bike while an accomplice stood as a look out. They were arrested a shortly after being followed by the eyewitnesses.
  • The driver and front passenger seats were stolen out of a Honda S2000 in the Quarter of Ybor condominium complex parking garage, 1810 E Palm Ave. The suspect(s) broke into the car by tearing a hole in the car's convertible top. Fingerprints were taken at the scene.
