Tampa Police Make Arrest in Gas Station Robbery

Video footage helps ID the suspect.

Tampa Police have charged Terrance E. Brooks with .  A news viewer recognized Brooks on the surveillance video police released to the media and phoned in a tip, police spokeswoman Janelle McGregor said in a news release.

The Chevron station at 2735 W. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. was robbed Sunday afternoon. Detectives were able to positively identify Brooks, 31, who resides at 6924 Donald Ave., Apt. 1, and place a warrant out for his arrest based on the information the viewer provided to them, McGregor said.  

On Friday, officers spotted the suspect driving his girlfriend's Saturn near her home on Juneau Street and Nebraska Avenue, McGregor said.  He was arrested without incident and charged with robbery and possession of cocaine.

Brooks remains in Orient Road Jail in lieu of $27,000 bond, according to jail records.
