Student Killed While Walking to School
Shenika Davis, 15, was crossing Hillsborough Avenue when she was hit by a car.
Tampa Police are calling it a tragic accident.
Shenika Davis, 15, a ninth grader at Middleton High School was crossing East Hillsborough Avenue at the railroad tracks when she was hit by an oncoming car at about 6:35 a.m., according to a news release by Tampa Police spokeswoman Andrea Davis (no relation).
Shenika was on her way to school.Police said she was wearing dark clothing. The driver of the 1993 GMC Sierra that struck her, Tommy Murphy, 46, of Tampa, did not see her, police said. No charges are expected.
