Robberies, Burglaries and Break-Ins Under Investigation

Tampa Police are looking for a gunman on a bicycle and a burglar who broke into Nicko's.

Recent Reports from Tampa Police Districts 2 and 3:

July 16

  • At 1:29 a.m., a male driver pulled into the drive-through lane of Checkers at 1615 E. Hillsborough Ave. The man placed a food order and pulled up to the pay window. He aimed a gun at the staff before driving off. Officers located the suspect's vehicle at 22nd Street and Rowlet Park Drive. Police attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the car sped away. During the pursuit, the suspect's car drove through a yard at 1800 E. Fairbanks Ave., destroying a fence and mail box. The suspect jumped from the car and ran, still carrying the gun. Officers found him laying on the roof of a vacant home at 2000 E. Wood St. He refused commands to surrender and only did so upon being struck by projectiles from a pepper ball launcher. Police located the weapon and discovered that the suspect's vehicle had been reported stolen. Officers arrested Souveni Petit Frere, 22, of 1015 E. 24th Ave., on charges of armed robbery, aggravated fleeing to elude arrest, driving with a canceled license, opposing an officer, being a felon in possession of a firearm, auto burglary and grand theft of a motor vehicle.
  • At 11 a.m., a burglary was reported at a residence at the 8500 block of North Tampa Street. The victim heard glass breaking and then observed a suspect loading a flat screen television into a vehicle. Responding units found a rear window broken at the residence. Police spoted the suspect vehicle heading north on  Nebraska Avenue from Busch Boulevard. The driver pulled into the gas station at Linebaugh Avenue and parked at the pumps. The suspect was arrested and the stolen television was recovered from the back seat of the vehicle.
  • At 11:30 a.m. a moped was reported stolen from the garage of The Quarter apartments at 1810 E. Palm Ave.

July 17

  • At 4 p.m., credit cards were taken from an unlocked vehicle parked at The Quarter apartments at 1800 E. Palm Ave. The cards were later used and video was obtained.
  • At 9:27 p.m., police responded to a robbery at the 1800 block of East Bird Street. The victim had walked his daughter to her car parked in the front of his home. While standing at the car, a young man rode a bicycle into the victim's yard and pointed a firearm to the father's victim's head while demanding everything out of their pockets. The father pulled out his pockets and showed the suspect he didn't have anything. The suspect got angry and rode off northbound on Hillsborough Lane. Neither victim was hurt. The suspect was described as a black male in his late teens to early 20s, standing 5-feet-6-inches to 5-feet-8-inches tall, weighing 130 to 140 pounds, with a thin build. He had dreads or possibly braids and was wearing all dark clothing.

July 18

  • At 3 a.m., someone broke into three vehicles at H&K Auto Parts, 3101 N. Nebraska Ave., by smashing windows. The vandal took a CD, shoes and sunglasses.
  • At 4:40 a.m., someone pushed in the Plexiglas front door of ,  4603 N. Florida Ave., and entered the business. Once inside, the burglar rummaged through the restaurant , but it was undetermined if anything was taken.
  • An unknown suspect attempted to enter the Police Athletic League building by partially prying out a window AC unit. It appears that entry was not made.
