Police to Conduct Back-to-School Patrols
Tampa officers will patrol school zones to ensure a smooth first day of classes.
Drivers beware: On Tuesday, the Tampa Police Department will be out in full force during the first day of the semester patrolling school zones to ensure a smooth return to the classroom, spokeswoman Laura McElroy said in a news release.
The department’s patrol division is working to ensure that children are safe on the first day back to school. Officers will ensure drivers are obeying all school zone and bus traffic laws. They will assist with traffic direction and help students cross streets safely. Police will have increased patrols at the schools and on bus routes for the first two weeks of school.
