Haven Inn Slaying Victim Identified

The 85-year-old motel guest was a robbery victim, police say.

A robbery victim found dead Friday at the Haven Inn has been identified as James Frazier, 85, who listed his address as room 3 of the motel at 7007 N. Nebraska Ave.

A 21-year-old woman was charged with first-degree murder and armed robbery in Frazier's death. 

Ayana Sabrina Brown was arrested about 12 p.m. Friday at 6411 N. Nebraska Ave., according to Hillsborough County Jail records, which indicate her home address is 4812 Lowell Road, Tampa. She was being held without bail on charges of murder and robbery with a firearm, and possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana.

Frazier's body was found in his room with a fatal wound, according to a police statement.

Brown had been released from jail in May after being arrested on warrants accusing her of obstructing or opposing an officer with violence and battery of a law enforcement officer. Her arrest record dates to 2008, according to jail records, and includes domestic violence and battery charges.
