Multiple Burglaries Under Investigation

Report suspicious-acting people wandering through your neighborhood to the police.

Recent Reports from Tampa Police Districts 2 and 3:

Sept. 5

  • Someone broke the rear glass door of La Pelota Café, 1701 W. Waters Ave., and stole a safe containing cash, several flat screen TVs, computers, DJ equipment and the security DVR. The culprit damaged the entire inside of the restaurant by flooding the floors, damaging the seats, smashing glass doors and spray painting.

  • About $580 in property, including loose change, a digital camera and a wallet were reported stolen from a home at the 600 block of West Henry Avenue.

Sept. 7

  • An attempted burglary was reported at the 4200 block of Chestwood Court. The culprits tried to pry open the front door but were unable to defeat the deadbolt.

  • A burglary was reported at the 300 block of Rio Vista Way. The culprit entered the home by prying open a rear door. Items taken include three flat screen TVs and a small DVD player. Neighbors noticed two men and a minivan near the back of the home during the time of the burglary.
  • A woman reported the theft of a purse containing $900 in cash from inside an unlocked car at the 8800 block of North 14th St. The purse was in plain view. The purse,  a wallet and $340 in cash were found at the dead end of the street strewn about where the suspect crossed the railroad tracks. A witness described the suspect as a 14-year-old black male, heavy built, 5-feet-4-inches tall, wearing a white shirt with vertical stripes and light colored shorts.

Sept. 9

  • A portable digital music player and miscellaneous personal items were reported stolen from a vehicle at the 2900 block of Tanbark Court in Knollwood Manor. The culprit entered an unlocked Toyota Rav 4, triggering an alarm. The owner came outside and saw the suspect inside her vehicle.  Police found the suspect trying to hide between two cars on Rockaway Court. He was arrested without incident.
