Patch: What do you like most about your job?
Enes: it’s not any fame or glory. It’s helping other people and making a positive difference.
Patch: How did you become interested in firefighting?
Enes: I always wanted to be one. The lights and sirens intrigued me as a little girl, but I went to a Catholic school and firefighting wasn’t considered a girl thing to do. One day I was helping my daughters with school. I gave her a speech and told her never to give up on her hopes and dreams and to always reach for the stars and always give it your best. Then my youngest daughter asked, “When were you a firefighter?” That was on a Monday and I submitted my resignation to the doctor’s office by the end of the week. I went back to school at 36, and got hired at 42.
Patch: What's your most memorable call?
Enes: On Gasparilla a woman collapsed, and we shocked her back to life. We will be walking together in the Gasparilla parade in 2012.
Patch: What’s your favorite color?
Enes: Pink
Patch: What was the last movie you saw?
Enes: "The Hangover," it was light and fluffy which is what you need.
