Man Shot in Standoff with Tampa Police

Authorities have not determined if the wound was self-inflicted or caused by police.

 

TampaBay.com reporter Robbyn Mitchell has posted an article regarding a shooting that happened about 2:15 p.m. today in North Tampa.

Responding to a report of a man seen beating an elderly person, police arrived at a North Tampa home at 10407 N. 25th St. and found the man's parents in the front yard. The parents told police the suspect was inside with a gun.

Police spoke with the man in the house before he pointed a gun at the officers, the article said. The man was shot, but it has not been determined by investigators if the wound was self-inflicted or caused by police.

The suspect was rushed to Tampa General Hospital. His name has not been released.

No officers were injured.
