Driver, 87, Dies After Traffic Crash in Old Seminole Heights
Robert Homer Smith died a day after his pickup truck struck a car at Nebraska Avenue and Hanna Avenue, just a few blocks from his home, Tampa Police said.
A local man has died as a results of injuries he suffered in a Thursday afternoon traffic crash in Old Seminole Heights, according to Tampa Police.
Robert Homer Smith, 87, died Friday at Tampa General Hospital, where he had been taken following Thursday's accident and was initially listed in critical but stable condition, authorities said.
According to investigators, Anderson was driving his Chevy pickup southbound on Nebraska Avenue crossing Hanna Avenue just before 2:30 p.m. Thursday when he struck a 2009 Buick Lucerne. The driver of the Buick, Ryan Linsdey Anderson, 24, of Temple Terrace, was apparently turning westbound onto Hanna.

The accident happened just a few blocks from Smith's East Powhatan Avenue home, according to police.
Detectives are still working to determine if any charges will be filed in the investigation or if Smith was at fault, Tampa Police Officer Irene Thomas said in a media release.
