Drinking? Driving? Hillsborough Deputies Say Think Twice

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office plans to be out on the roads in force over Memorial Day Weekend.

Planning on knocking a few back during a Memorial Day weekend barbecue before putting the key in the ignition to head home? 

It’s time to reconsider that plan.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office says it’s ramping up its normal Memorial Day weekend DUI patrols thanks to extra money it received in a grant from the Florida Department of Transportation.

That means motorists can count on seeing lots of cruisers on the roads.

“The Sheriff's Operation 3D DUI Squad will search for impaired drivers operating on county roadways and near county parks known for active outdoor activities including county parks with boat ramps,” the sheriff’s office warned in a media release.

Deputies arrested 21 people on DUI charges countywide during Memorial Day weekend 2012.

In hopes of having a quiet weekend this year, deputies urge Westchase area residents to “drink responsibility and not drink and drive.”
