Crime Blotter: Chamberlain High, Houses and Cars Burgled

Chamberlain High School was relieved of a projector and Gatorade during the winter break, and a motion alarm sent a would-be burglar running before items could be stolen.

Dec. 16 - Jan. 2

  • Over the winter holiday someone broke into the cafeteria at Chamberlain High School, 9401 N. Blvd., and stole 100 bottles of Gatorade valued at $150. A classroom was also broken into and an Epsom projector valued at $300 was stolen.

Dec. 23-29

  • An air conditioner was stolen from a residence on the 400 block of W. Humphrey St. while no one was home.

  • A thief was thwarted by a motion alarm at a residence on the 2100 block of West Juneau Street. Police say the suspect forced open a side window and reached inside for items on the window sill. The suspect fled empty-handed after the alarm was activated.
  • A 1995 Honda was broken into on the 8400 block of North Armenia Avenue. The suspect tried to bypass the ignition, but failed to start the car and fled. Fingerprints were taken at the scene.

Dec. 28

  • The lock on a 2005 Ford F-150 at 8415 N. Armenia Ave. was punched out by an unknown object, but nothing was stolen. Fingerprints were taken at the scene.

  • An apartment window was forced open at 8415 N Armenia Ave., and a Toshiba laptop computer, 46-inch flat screen TV, and Xbox game system were stolen.

Dec. 30

  • An unlocked window on the south side of a home on the 1400 block of East Holland was breached. Stolen was a 37-inch Vizio flat screen TV, an Apple iPod Touch 4G, a Dell laptop, and a men's ring. A fingerprint was taken at the scene.
  • A bedroom window was smashed at a home on the 1300 block of East 98th Avenue, and someone stole a TV and laptop computer.
  • A 1995 Buick was stolen from a residence on the 1500 block of East Humphrey Street, and later found in front of a vacant house at 1509 E. Eskimo St. The car's stereo equipment and four large chrome rims. Fingerprints were taken at the scene.

Jan. 1

  • Police have arrested and charged Albert Hickmon, 19, of 104 E. Clinton St., with burglary and grand theft. Police say Hickmon and three other suspects were spotted by a witness burglarizing a residence on the 7100 block of North Taliaferro Avenue. He was traced to the Oaks of Riverview apartments at 202 E. Broad St. and arrested by police after a short foot pursuit. The other three suspects haven't been identified.

Jan. 2

  • Police have arrested and charged Brianna McCoy, 19, and Johanna Martinez, 23, both of 1307 W. Arctic St., with burglary and grand theft. The women broke into a house on the 5900 block of North Highland Avenue, according to investigators, and stole $1,280 in electronics. Police are currently trying to recover the stolen items.
