Burglary Strikes the Independent
A door was smashed sometime Monday morning at the Seminole Heights bar and cafe, Tampa Police said.
Someone threw a plant through a glass entrance door at The Independent bar and cafe, at 5016 N Florida Ave, early Monday morning, according to the Tampa Police Department. Someone then walked inside and stole beer. The burglary occured after closing time, sometime between midnight and 5 a.m., police said.
Investigators aren't releasing further details.
Independent co-owner Valerie Vellines declined to say how much merchandise she lost, but said the Independent is open for normal business hours today.
