Arrest Made in E. Broad St. Homicide

David Rodriguez is charged with first-degree murder and admitted he and two other men took part in a Central Tampa robbery that turned deadly, police said.

A suspect has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder and two more arrests could follow after the shooting death of a Central Tampa man, police said.

David Rodriguez, 41, admitted to investigators he and two other men took part in of Colen Thomas, 49, according to a Tampa Police Department media release. When Thomas arrived home, one of the three suspects pulled out a gun and shot him, the release stated. Thomas later died of his injuries.

Rodriguez, of 826 W. Kirby St., also admitted to receiving $65 for his part in the robbery, police said. He is also charged with robbery with a firearm and making a false report to law enforcement.

Detectives said they are still investigating and additional arrests are pending.
