Armed Robbers Fail to Score Big Money

Here is a look back at the Tampa Police Department's crime blotter for the Seminole Heights area over the last week.

Thursday September 20

  • Two men approached a man in the 5100 block of North Nebraska Avenue and demanded he give them his money. With one in front of him and the other behind him brandishing a hand gun and threatening to kill him, the victim pleaded in an attempt to convince the two young men he had no money. Eventually, the victim was successful and watched his assailants flee northbound on Nebraska via bicycles. The victim called police who put out a "be on the lookout" notification. The assailants were stopped at Florida Avenue and Fairbanks Street and later identified. The gun turned out to be a black air pistol that looked identical to a real handgun.

Sunday September 23

  • A man was walking westbound on Osborne Avenue west of 12th Street when he was approached by two black males from behind armed with semi-automatic handguns. They demanded money from the victim, so he threw $40 in cash on the ground. The two men fled southbound on 12th Street leaving no witnesses or video. The victim admitted to being in the neighborhood to buy marijuana or a prostitute, but insisted he was telling the truth about this story.
