Armed Robber, Burglars Keeping Police Busy

Tampa Police are searching for an armed man who robbed a local Subway and suspects in a rash of burglaries.

Recent reports from Tampa Police District 2:

Aug. 9

  • The clutch from at 2003 Yamaha motorcycle and a 1995 Suzuki motorcycle were reported stolen from MC Motor Sports at 6900 N. Nebraska Ave. The culprit forced entry through the chain link fence and the garage bay door.

  • The Subway restaurant at 2602 E. Busch Blvd. was robbed shortly before 9 a.m. An man armed with a gun in his waistband entered the store, ordered everyone to the ground and jumped over the front counter. He threatened to shoot a worker who was not emptying the cash register fast enough and left out the back door, getting into the passenger door of a vehicle parked on the west side of the business. The car drove off northbound on 26th Street. The suspect was described as a black male with a medium complexion, wearing a nylon rag on his head and a black bandana over his face. He was 20 to 28 years old, with a medium build. He was approximately 6-feet-1-inch tall, wearing a dark long sleeved shirt, dark pants, dark shoes with no socks or no-show socks, and dark gloves. He appeared to have shorter hair and close-cropped sideburns or a jaw-line style beard. He might have had piercings in his left ear. The vehicle was a small to medium dark blue sedan, possibly a newer model, with dark tinted windows and a Florida tag.
  • A Sony desktop computer, monitor, keyboard, computer mouse, and a DVD/CD burner were reported stolen at a residence at the 8100 block of North Mulberry St. A rear window was broken and the residence was ransacked.
  • A red mini motor bike was reported stolen from the porch of a home at the 1000 block of East Yukon St. The culprit entered the home through the front door and stole a backpack containing an iPod Touch, $175 and a wallet with ID cards.

Aug. 11

  • A flat screen television and jewelry were reported stolen from a home at the 800 block of East Broad St. Someone entered the home by breaking a small window on the rear door.
  • A vehicle trunk was found pried open with a jack and a lug wrench at the 4200 block of East Powhatan Ave. The culprit also rummaged through the interior of the car.
  • A watch and a ring were reported stolen from a home at the 3700 block of East Idlewild Ave. The culprit entered the home at the rear through a sliding glass door that was in disrepair.
